Overview
DeckDuck is a local-first browser extension for Chrome and Microsoft Edge. It replaces the default new tab page with a customizable launchpad for bookmarks, groups, notes, and related preferences.
DeckDuck does not include analytics, telemetry, advertising trackers, tracking pixels, or third-party scripts.
What data DeckDuck stores
DeckDuck stores user workspace data locally in browser extension storage. This may include:
- Groups and cards
- Bookmark titles, URLs, notes, tags, and layout order
- Theme, wallpaper, density, and display preferences
- Command and usage state needed for the local experience
- Backup and sync metadata when those features are used
What DeckDuck sends over the network
DeckDuck keeps network activity intentionally limited. Outbound traffic may occur only in the following cases:
- When you click a bookmark or submit a web search.
- When you explicitly trigger preview or thumbnail import from a page or image URL.
- When you enable Company mode and configure an approved managed JSON source.
- When you explicitly enable OneDrive personal sync preview and run a manual sync action.
- When the browser performs its own native favicon lookup behavior.
OneDrive personal sync preview
If you choose to enable OneDrive personal sync preview, DeckDuck can upload and download your personal DeckDuck snapshot using your own Microsoft account and DeckDuck's private application folder in OneDrive.
OneDrive sync is optional, manual, and disabled by default. DeckDuck does not sync your data to any server operated by the DeckDuck publisher.
Managed company content
DeckDuck can optionally load managed company content from an approved internal JSON endpoint or browser-managed enterprise policy. This is separate from your personal data and is intended for organizational rollout scenarios.
Data sharing
The DeckDuck publisher does not sell user data, rent user data, or share user data with advertising or analytics providers.
Your choices
- You can use DeckDuck entirely local-first without enabling cloud sync.
- You can export and import your own backup files.
- You can remove synced data from your own OneDrive account by deleting the DeckDuck app-folder file.
- You can remove the extension at any time through your browser.
